1/22/06 - HELLUVA GAME

Did anyone see that Colts-Patriots game last night? Man, that was intense. The Pats blew a 18 point lead and ended up losing to Manning and the Colts 38-34. Finally, someone has beaten the Pats.  On the other side, the Saints blew my conspiracy theory away as they got crushed by the Bears in the 4th quarter and lost 39-14.  I thought the Bears were going to win it all back in October but I don't know now. Should be a great SuperBowl.

We got a little bit of snow last night so I had to shovel the sidewalk. I was out there around 645 AM when some college dude started swearing at me from his sidewalk because I apparently woke him up. Sorry buddy, business as usual Monday morning so we can't stop so you can get your beauty sleep. Next time I will have the snow blower out.

I watched Invincible over the weekend but was too sick to write a review. It was a "feel gooder" so its worth the watch. Be sure to check out hour 5 of 24 tonight.

1/16/07 - 24 KICKS ASS

Last years 24 I consider to be best of all of the seasons that it has been on Television so its pretty hard to top that. When I saw previews for this current season, I was stoked because it looked so damn good.  I thought it had a chance to be better. After watching Sunday night's two hour first parter I was a bit skeptical.  It was kind of lame in my opinion. But after last nights episode, I am totally gung ho about this season.

The events that transpired in the last 20 minutes of the second part of the premiere gave me goose bumps. First, Jack shot and most likely killed Curtis because he was going to kill Assad, the terrorist now working with the US to find the baddies.  Then at the end of the episode, the baddies detonated a suitcase nuke in Valencia, California. Now that's hardcore TV.  I never saw that coming one bit and I really appreciate a show that pulls out all the stops and twists just to take it to another level. After last nights episode, I am feeling good things about this season.

1/15/07 - REPAY CITY OF NEW ORLEANS WITH SUPERBOWL?

For those of you wondering, I do exist, and I am back. I took a little time off but I think its time to get going again here. I may even throw some movie reviews up here as well.

Anyways, the subject today deals mostly with football since there was some pretty good matchups during the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs.  The Eagles lost which was suspected, and thus ended their Cinderella season. I wish they would have kept losing this season so they could get a better draft pick. Instead, Jeff Garcia kept winning and now their draft pick is going to be shitty. Oh, and Andy Reid totally blew that game against the Saints. What else is new?

That actually takes me into my main point. What's the deal with the New Orleans Saints?  They have never won a playoff game until their victory on Saturday night.  They have a first year coach who is the AP coach of the year. What's the deal? Well, I called it during the first part of the season. The NFL is going to repay the city of New Orleans from the destruction of Hurricane Katrina with a SuperBowl birth and a possible trophy. Seriously, is it really that far fetched?

The NFL is a business, pure and simple. It is all about the ratings, and what wouldn't give the business the highest ratings ever but to see this city ravaged with destruction gain an improbable SuperBowl 41 birth?  You ask me, why didn't they do it last year then? Well, I will tell you for one simple reason: the team was not based out of New Orleans so it would have been pretty far fetched to see a team living out of Hotels and duffel bags go all the way.

But this year is prime for the Saints. They have the explosive rookie in Reggie Bush and Drew Brees at the helm. They also have Sean Payton, who in his first year as coach has done wonders for this team. He's done almost too much to make it believable.  I don't know who they have on defense but it doesn't matter. While I think the Bears could win on Sunday, they won't because the Saints are being controlled by a higher power, the NFL commish. Hell, he even praised the fans for their high intensity during the Eagles game.

The Saints are the team that America wants to see in the SuperBowl based on some polls I viewed last night on FoxSports, so that's what the NFL is going to give to the American people, and to the City of New Orleans.  Its a small consolation for the price they paid during Hurricane Katrina. You don't believe me, well just watch the game next week. Oh, and the game is at Soldier Field in Chicago, but the Saints are already favored.

I was surprised to see the Colts win but now I have to root for Peyton Manning to finally make it to the big game after the Pats pulled out a victory over top the seed San Diego Chargers. Man, I was so pissed at the game. I am so tired of seeing Tom Brady and the New England Patriots winning the big games while Bill Belachick stands on the sidelines in his heavy sweatshirt with cutoff sleeves.  Marty Schottenheimer should be fired for the second half performance in the game. The Pats could not stop LT but yet, the Chargers hardly used him in the second half. It's very depressing to see that happen to that team on their home field. I expect Manning to win his first playoff game against the Pats and third overall including the last two regular seasons games. SuperBowl prediction: Bears and Colts, but in reality, because it's rigged it will be Saints and Colts.
