Spineshank Video
INTERIOR: BED ROOM, NIGHT
(13 Seconds + non video part)
Video fades in to a
close-up of a clock on the table. It says 11:23 then switches forward
one minute. From there the camera pulls back to a shot above of two
people sleeping in bed. There is a guy(Chris) and a girl laying in
bed. Chris opens up his eyes and looks at the ceiling. He then slowly
turns his head to look at the girl next to him. She is sleeping.
The camera now switches
to a shot from the ground looking at then bed to where we see Chris put
his feet on the floor. This is where the music will start. From there
he walks over to the bathroom and stops at the sink. He turns on the
faucet and lets water drip over his hands. He then takes his wet hands
and slowly wipes his face as he is staring into the mirror, seeing the
site of himself. This is where the main chorus kicks in which starts
the first flashback sequence.
Flashback 1 (16 Seconds)
Interior: Room
The two of them are
sitting talking and laughing with another couple and pretty much having
a good old time. They both have worry-free looks on their faces as if
they are living their last days.
Exterior: Outside Park
Bench
The two of them are
sitting on the bench kissing and being very affectionate towards one
another. At the end, they get up and walk away as the camera zooms in
on the middle of them; we can clearly see their two hands being held
together.
Interior: Bathroom-then
bedroom (6 Seconds)
The camera fades back to
Chris staring at himself in the mirror. We cannot tell what his problem
is because we have seen only good things up to this point. He turns
from the mirror and looks at the girl on the bed. From here we go to
the second flashback
Flashback 2 (58 Seconds)
Chris is coming up the
stairs to the house and throws his keys on the table. He then goes to
the bed room and opens the door and sees some guy on top of his
girlfriend. (Second Chorus)
He jumps on the bed and
pulls the guy from his girl who is laying there in total astonishment.
He goes over this new guy who is on the floor and sees that it is his
best friend. He steps back and ponders for a moment what just
happened. The girl comes over from the bed and he turns to face her.
He then looks at the guy who puts his hand out in apology. He smacks
the hand away and leaves the room, grabs his keys and goes down the
steps. Chris’s girl runs after him and stops at the top of the stairs
as he goes through the door and heads outside.
Exterior: House, night
Chris is obviously pissed
off as he slams the door (1.04) as we see the girl in the background.
He then proceeds to speed off down the road.
InterioR: House
We cut back the top of
the stairs where his girl is crying. The guy that was with her comes
over and tries to console her but she slaps him in the face and tells
him to leave. He does and she goes back to the room.
Exterior: Bar
There is a brief shot of
a bar from the outside
Interior: Bar
Chris is sitting at the
bar drinking a bottle of beer. The camera looks at the empty bottles
then pans to see him taking another long sip and then puts it back
down. The camera does a 180 in front of him from the right to the
left. He has obviously been there for a while because there are three
empty bottles in front of him. He has a sorrow look on his face.
Interior: House
Chris’s girlfriend is
lying on the bed holding a pillow tight as she cries into a tissue.
There are black streaks of makeup that have stained her face.
Interior: Bar
Cut back to the bar where
Chris has taken another sip of beer and sets the glass down to a picture
of the two of them. He stares down at it, and then looks back up into a
long gaze that fades to back to the present day.
Interior: Bathroom (1.32
Mark)
Chris goes turns from the
mirror and stares at the girl in the bed. He walks over next to the bed
and as he moves, he looks at the picture on the desk. He picks it up
and looks at it for a few seconds. As he is doing this, the camera cuts
to the girl and you can see her eyes open and loop up. Chris puts down
the picture and then looks up towards the ceiling. The muscles in his
face tighten and he clenches his fists. He picks the picture up again
and throws it against the wall. (1.54 Mark) She jumps up but it is too
late.
He grabs his keys and
coat and leaves the apartment. He drives downtown to the local
hangout-a pool joint. He spots his friend leaving the establishment.
He parks the car and the camera angle changes to the height of the car
door as it opens. Chris steps out and races after his friend. He leaps
and jumps on his friend at the 2.08 mark in the song. From there, the
camera is looking up at Chris, as if we were the person he was looking
at. The camera then switches to Chris’s point of view. The friend has
a look of compassion on his face, but he can do nothing. Chris lays
into him with a barrage of right hand punches. One after another, he
lets out all of his pain and suffering.
Exterior: Bar, Night (13
Seconds until mark)
Chris stops punching the
guy for a second as a he looks at his hands. They are covered in blood
and he starts to shake. He looks down at his friend as his face has
been turned into a bloody pulp. People are starting to gather around
them. Chris slowly stands up as if he has seen a ghost. He cannot
believe that he would do something like this. He turns around and sees
his girl staring directly at him. (2.36 Mark) She is holding her hands
to her mouth because she cannot believe what she has seen. They pause
for a moment then the camera switches to her POV. He walks towards her
as we can see the people in the background now. As he walks past she
grabs his hand and he stops and turns around and looks at her then the
hand. She lets go of his hand and brings it closer to her face. Blood
from Chris’s friend is now on her hand. He looks at the hand, then at
her face. She has several tears going down her face. Chris shows no
emotion whatsoever during this scene. He turns from her and walks back
to his car. The POV of the camera is now behind the girl as he gets in
his car. She turns and looks at the guy on the ground who has managed
to sit up, and then back to the car which has sped off around the
corner. The scene fades.
INTERIOR: CAR, NIGHT
Camera is behind Chris to
the right as he is driving. The camera focuses on his hands on the
wheel, most notably the blood. The camera then looks at the rear view
mirror as we see Chris’s eyes looking to it. The scene fades.
INTERIOR: HOUSE
We come back to the
apartment that the two lived in. The girl comes up the steps and she
takes a look around at stuff. She looks at pictures on the wall,
posters, and other things that remind her of Chris. They are quick half
second flashes of things. She walks over to wall and looks down at the
broken glass surrounding the picture. She bends down and moves the
glass away and picks up the picture. The camera is to the right of her,
so we see her expression and not the picture. She walks into the
bathroom and stares into the mirror. Scene ends as she looks from mirror
to the floor. A tear drops.
Interior: CAR, NIGHT
We
go back to Chris who is driving down the road. He takes a picture from
his shirt of him and his girl. He looks at it, then back to the road.
He takes the picture and throws it out of the window. The camera then
emerges outside of the car as he drives on. There is a patch of light
on the road and a object falls right into it. It is the picture that
Chris threw from the truck. The camera fixates on the picture for a few
seconds and then it fades to black.
